Well, let me tell you about this here cancer thing. It ain’t just one thing, you know? It’s like a whole bunch of bad things all mixed up together. Can happen anywhere in your body, from your head to your toes, Lord have mercy. Doctors, they call it a “collection of related diseases”, but that’s just fancy talk for a whole lotta trouble.
What is this cancer thing anyway? Like I said, it ain’t just one thing. It’s like weeds in a garden, but inside your body. These weeds, they grow and grow, and they don’t care about nothing else. They just wanna take over. And that ain’t good, not one bit.
Now, I hear tell that since back in the day, them doctors have learned a whole heap about this cancer. They talk about “genomic” this and “epigenomic” that. Sounds like gibberish to me, but I guess it means they’re finally figuring out how these weeds grow. They say they can even look at the tiny little bits inside our bodies to see what’s going on. Imagine that!

They got books and books about it now, all full of big words. “Understanding Cancer” they call ’em. Like anybody can understand this mess. But I guess it’s good they’re trying. They talk about “therapeutics” too. That just means how they’re gonna try to get rid of them weeds, I reckon.
- They cut ’em out, sometimes.
- They poison ’em, sometimes.
- They burn ’em, sometimes.
It all sounds scary, and it is scary. I heard tell that in America, a whole lot of folks get this cancer. Like, one out of every two men and one out of every three women. That’s a lot of folks, if you ask me. Makes you think, don’t it?
If you or someone you know gets this cancer, it’s a tough road. You need folks around you. Them doctors, they say they’re there for you, 24/7. They got phones and that internet thing. You can talk to ’em anytime, they say. But it ain’t the same as having your family and friends close by, you know? You need someone to hold your hand, to make you a cup of tea, to just sit with you and listen.
Now, some folks are born under a certain sign, they say. Like this “Cancer” sign. It ain’t got nothing to do with the sickness, mind you. It’s just a star thing. They say if you got this Cancer thing in your “first house,” whatever that means, you’re a caring and protective sort. You’re strong, but you’re also soft. You feel things deep down. You know what other folks are feeling, even if they don’t say it. And that means folks with this sign might be good at caring for people with the sickness called Cancer too!
They also say folks with this Cancer sign are good leaders, even though they are sensitive. And they’re close to their mamas, which is a good thing, I always say. Mamas know best. They get along good with other water signs, like them Scorpio and Pisces folks. But that’s all just star talk, you know? Doesn’t mean much when you’re facing something real like this cancer.
So, what can you do? Well, you can listen to them doctors. You can take their medicine and do what they tell you. But you also gotta take care of yourself. Eat good food, get some rest, and keep your spirits up. And most importantly, you gotta have faith. Faith in God, faith in your doctors, and faith in yourself. ‘Cause that’s the only way you’re gonna fight them weeds and come out on top.
It ain’t easy, but you ain’t alone. There’s a whole heap of folks fighting this fight alongside you. And there’s folks who care about you and want to help. So don’t be afraid to reach out. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. And don’t ever give up hope.
This here cancer, it’s a mean one, but it ain’t unbeatable. With a little bit of luck, a whole lotta love, and some good doctoring, you can fight them weeds and get back to living your life. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
