Okay, so I’ve been wanting a new tattoo for a while, and I’ve always been super into astrology. I’m a Pisces, and my partner is a Scorpio, and I thought it would be cool to get a tattoo that represents both of us. A combined zodiac symbol, you know?
First, I hit up Pinterest. I just typed in “Scorpio and Pisces tattoo” and, man, there were a ton of ideas. Some were just the two symbols next to each other, some were intertwined, and some were totally abstract and artsy.
I saved a bunch of the ones I liked, mostly the ones that combined the symbols in a clever way. I also looked at some that incorporated water elements, since both signs are water signs. Think waves, bubbles, that kind of thing.
Then, I started sketching some of my own ideas. Nothing fancy, just some rough drawings to get a feel for what I really wanted. I played around with combining the Scorpio “M” with the Pisces symbol, which kind of looks like two fish swimming in opposite directions.
- I tried making the “M” look like waves.
- I tried having the Pisces fish tails form the points of the “M”.
- I even tried a few that were more like a single creature, half-Scorpio, half-Pisces.
Honestly, most of my sketches were pretty bad, but it helped me figure out what I didn’t want. Which is just as important, right?
Next, I started looking for tattoo artists in my area. I checked out their online portfolios, paying special attention to their line work and detail. I wanted someone who could do delicate lines and capture the flowy, watery vibe I was going for.
I narrowed it down to a few artists and sent them my favorite inspiration pics, along with my janky sketches. I explained what I was looking for – a subtle, elegant design that combined the Scorpio and Pisces symbols in a unique way.
One artist really stood out. Her style was exactly what I was hoping for, and she seemed really excited about the project. We scheduled a consultation, and I brought all my stuff with me.
The Consultation
We chatted for a while about the design, and she made some suggestions I hadn’t even thought of. Like, she suggested using negative space to create the shape of the fish, instead of outlining them. Genius!
She did a few quick sketches right there, incorporating my ideas and hers. It was so cool to see it all coming together. We finally landed on a design that I absolutely loved – a minimalist, flowing design that perfectly blended the two symbols.
Finally, It’s done. I love my tattoo, the whole process is so great.
