Okay, so I’ve been getting really into tarot lately, and I wanted to try a love reading for myself. I’m single, and, well, let’s just say my love life has been a bit of a desert lately. I decided to focus on the question: “What’s the overall energy surrounding my love life right now?” I shuffled my deck, really focusing on that question, and pulled one card: The Emperor.
My first reaction? Honestly, I was a little confused. The Emperor? He’s all about structure, control, and authority. Not exactly the warm, fuzzy, romantic vibes I was hoping for. So, I grabbed my favorite tarot guidebook and started digging in.
I learned that, sure, the Emperor can represent a dominant, take-charge kind of person. Maybe I need to take the dating app search more seriously. It’s not going to date me, so maybe I need to be more proactive.

My Interpretation and What I Did
- Taking Charge: I decided this was a sign I needed to be more proactive in my love life. I’ve been kind of passive, waiting for something to happen. So, I updated my dating profile, actually messaged a few people, and even (gasp!) asked a friend if she knew anyone she could set me up with.
- Setting Boundaries: I also realized I haven’t been great at setting boundaries in past relationships. So, I spent some time journaling about what I really want and need from a partner, and what my non-negotiables are. It felt really empowering.
- Embracing Structure: I’m not usually a super structured person, but I figured maybe a little routine could help. I decided to dedicate specific times each week to “dating stuff” – whether it’s swiping, going on dates, or even just doing something that makes me feel good and confident.
It’s still early days, but I already feel a shift. I feel more in control, more confident, and more clear about what I want. I haven’t met “the one” yet, but I feel like I’m on the right path. Instead of passively waiting, I felt like the king of my own world. Pulling the Emperor card was a wake-up call, and a good one at that!
