Okay, so today I decided to dig into this whole “Seven of Cups advice” thing. I’ve been feeling a bit scattered lately, like I have a million ideas and possibilities swirling around, but I’m not actually doing much with them. Sound familiar? That’s pretty much the vibe of the Seven of Cups card in Tarot.
First, I grabbed my trusty Rider-Waite deck (it’s my go-to, I just connect with the imagery). I shuffled the cards, focusing on my current situation and asking for guidance on how to move forward. I pulled one card: Seven of Cups. Yep, nailed it.
I then pulled out my tarot journal.I find its easier to take some note before it gets confusing.

Then spent some time just looking at the card. You know, really looking. Seven golden cups, each filled with… something different. A castle, jewels, a wreath, a dragon, a veiled figure, a snake, and a weird little head. It’s a lot to take in.
I started jotting down some initial thoughts in my journal:
- Too many choices?
- Feeling overwhelmed?
- Illusions vs. reality?
- Daydreaming too much?
Getting Practical
After my thought, the “advice” part of this card, at least for me, is about getting grounded. It’s saying, “Okay, cool, you’ve got all these ideas, but which ones are actually viable? Which ones align with your goals and values?”
So, I made a list of all the projects and ideas I’ve been juggling. Everything from starting a new blog (ironic, I know) to learning a new language to finally organizing my closet. It was a long list.
Next, I went through each item and asked myself some tough questions:
- Is this something I really want to do, or is it just a shiny distraction?
- Do I have the time and resources for this right now?
- What’s the first small step I can take to make this happen?
This process helped me narrow down my list considerably. Some things I realized were just fantasies. Others were good ideas, but not for right now. I ended up with three things that felt both exciting and achievable.
Finally, I picked one of those three things and committed to taking a small action today. Just one. I chose to organize a small section of my closet (baby steps!). And you know what? It felt good. It was a small victory, but it was a step in the right direction.
So, that’s my take on the Seven of Cups advice. It’s not about saying “no” to all your dreams, but about choosing wisely and focusing your energy on what truly matters. It’s about turning those dreamy possibilities into concrete realities, one step at a time.
