Moon as Feelings: What Does Your Lunar Mood Really Mean?

Moon as Feelings: What Does Your Lunar Mood Really Mean?

Okay, so the other day I had this kinda crazy idea to use the moon’s phases to represent, like, different feelings. I don’t know, it just popped into my head, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”

Getting Started

First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil. Nothing fancy, just wanted to get the basic idea down. I started sketching out the different moon phases – you know, new moon, crescent, full moon, all that. Then, next to each sketch, I jotted down some feelings that I thought matched.

  • New Moon: Kind of like a blank slate, felt like “emptiness” or “new beginnings.”
  • Waxing Crescent: This one was like a little sliver of hope, so I wrote down “hopeful” and “curious.”
  • First Quarter: Halfway there, so I figured “progress” and “determination.”
  • Waxing Gibbous: Almost full, building up to something, so I put down “anticipation” and “excitement.”
  • Full Moon: Big and bright, totally “joyful” and maybe a little “overwhelmed.”
  • Waning Gibbous: Starting to fade, so I thought “reflection” and “letting go.”
  • Last Quarter:“acceptance”.
  • Waning Crescent: Back to almost nothing, I wrote “calm” and “peaceful.”

Digging Deeper

After that initial brainstorm, I decided to, well make it visual.I found some watercolor paints.

And got to work painting each moon phase, trying to capture the feeling I had associated with it.I tried to use colors that I conected with each of them.

It was actually pretty relaxing, just focusing on the colors and the shapes. I’m no artist, but it was fun to just play around and see what happened. I kinda messed up a few times, but hey, that’s part of the process, right?

The Final Result

When I was done, I laid out all the little paintings and looked at them. It was kinda cool to see all these different feelings represented by the * is a very good idea I thought! It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and it’s a pretty cool way to think about how I’m feeling, I guess.

So yeah, that’s my little “moon as feelings” project. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime, maybe with different materials or different feelings. Who knows? It’s all about experimenting and having a little fun, right?
