Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “Sadge” emoji all over Twitch and Discord lately. I was like, “What the heck is this thing?” It’s basically a flattened, sad-looking Pepe the Frog. I’m not a huge Pepe guy, but this one just looked so pathetic, I had to figure out how to use it.
First, I googled “Sadge emoji.” Lots of stuff came up, mostly links to download it. You can download image or find some website to copy the emoji. But I wanted to truly understand Sadge, you know?
I found out it started showing up around 2020. Apparently, it’s used to express disappointment, sadness, or a general feeling of “blah.” Like, when your favorite streamer loses a game, or when a hyped-up movie turns out to be terrible, that’s Sadge.

How I Started Using It
- I started small, just dropping it in Twitch chat when something mildly disappointing happened.
- Then, I got bolder and used it on Discord with my friends.
- Now, I throw it in whenever I feel that slight pang of “ugh.” Spilled my coffee? Sadge. Missed the bus? Sadge. My code not compiling? Major Sadge.
It’s surprisingly versatile! It’s not just for huge, life-altering sadness. It’s more for that everyday, low-level disappointment. Like, “Oh, that sucks, but whatever.” It’s a way to acknowledge the bummer without dwelling on it too much. A small emoji to express how do you feel.
So yeah, that’s my Sadge journey. From complete confusion to full-on adoption. Now I’m part of the Sadge squad, and honestly, it’s kind of comforting. It’s like, we’re all in this slightly sad, slightly disappointing world together, and we have a little flattened frog to show for it.
