Okay, so I decided to try out this whole “free love tarot reading with a 10-card spread” thing today. I’ve been feeling a bit, you know, lost in the love department lately, and I figured, why not? It can’t hurt, right?
First, I needed to find a quiet spot. My apartment’s usually a mess, with laundry and dishes everywhere, but I managed to clear off a corner of my kitchen table. I even lit a candle – a vanilla one, because that’s all I had. It felt a little more…official, I guess.
Then, I pulled out my tarot deck. It’s this old deck I got from a friend years ago. I’m not super familiar with all the cards, but I like the artwork.

I shuffled the cards while trying to, like, focus on my love life (or lack thereof). It felt kinda silly, but I went with it. I shuffled them for a good few minutes, really trying to put my energy into it.
The Spread
I laid out the cards in the 10-card Celtic Cross spread, that is the way I’ve learned before.
- Card 1:The present, it show me what’s happening with me right now.
- Card 2: The Challenge,it shows the thing stop me to archive my goal.
- Card 3: The Past, it shows the past things has influnced me.
- Card 4: The Future, a glimpse of where things might be headed.
- Card 5: Above,it shows my goal, best outcome of the situation.
- Card 6: Below,it shows what’s truly driving,the root of the matter.
- Card 7: Advice, something I should consider.
- Card 8: External Influences, like, what other people are thinking or doing that might affect things.
- Card 9: Hopes and Fears,it get tricky.
- Card 10: Outcome, the final card, supposed to tell me how it all turns out.
I spent, no joke, a good hour just staring at the cards. I looked up the meanings online, because, let’s be real, I don’t have them memorized. Some of it made sense, like, “Oh yeah, that card about communication? Totally me, I’m awful at talking about my feelings.” Others were a bit more…mysterious. Like, what does “The Chariot” even mean in the context of dating apps?
Honestly, the whole thing was more confusing than helpful.I didn’t get any clear answers. My ‘outcome’ card was something vague about “new beginnings,” which could mean anything!
But, you know what? It was kind of fun. It made me think about what I actually want in a relationship, which is something I haven’t done in a while. And even though I’m still pretty clueless about my love life, I feel a little…lighter. Maybe it’s the vanilla candle. Or maybe it’s just nice to take some time for myself and do something a little different. I might even try it again next week. Who knows, maybe I’ll become a tarot pro!
