Alright, let’s talk about the Capricorn 3rd decan. I started looking into this because, well, I’ve been feeling a bit stuck lately, and I heard that understanding your astrological decan can give you some insights. So, naturally, I started digging.
First, I had to figure out what a “decan” even is. Turns out, it’s basically a subdivision of each zodiac sign. Each sign is divided into three parts, each spanning about 10 days. Since I’m a Capricorn and my birthday falls in the last 10 days of the sign, that puts me in the 3rd decan.
What did I find out?
- We’re ruled by Mercury. Apparently, this means we 3rd decan Capricorns are supposed to be more communicative and adaptable than other Caps. Not sure if I totally agree, but hey, who am I to argue with the stars?
- We’re supposed to be good at making plans and organizing things. Okay, this one I can get behind. I do love a good spreadsheet. I mean, who doesn’t like the feeling of a solid plan?
- We might struggle with overthinking. Guilty as charged. Seriously, sometimes my brain just won’t shut up. It’s like a hamster wheel of “what ifs” and “should haves.”
Putting it into practice
Knowing all this, I decided to put it to the test. I had this big project I was putting off, a real mess of a task. So, I tried to channel my inner Mercury-ruled Capricorn.

I broke the project down into smaller, more manageable steps. Then, I made a schedule, assigning each step a specific time slot. I even color-coded it, because, why not? It wasn’t easy to get the plan all laid out at first, but once it was done I felt way less overwhelmed.
Next, I started tackling each step, one by one. It was slow going at first, but I kept at it. Every time I felt that familiar urge to overthink things, I reminded myself that I had a plan and I just needed to stick to it. It was a real struggle to not get bogged down in the details, but I pushed through.
The result?
Believe it or not, I actually finished the project! And, dare I say, it turned out pretty good. I mean, it wasn’t perfect. There were definitely some bumps along the way. It was tough, no doubt. But I learned a lot about myself in the process.
So, what’s the takeaway from all this? I guess it’s that even if you’re not a big believer in astrology, there can still be some value in understanding these concepts. By leaning into my supposed strengths as a 3rd decan Capricorn, I was able to overcome my procrastination and achieve something I’m actually proud of. And who knows, maybe there’s more to this zodiac stuff than I thought. Might have to look into those other decans next… or maybe I will just take a break for now.
