Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “princess swords” idea, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. Started with absolutely zero clue, just a vague concept in my head.
Brainstorming
First, I brainstormed like crazy. What even is a princess sword? Is it pink? Does it have glitter? Is it still, you know, sharp? I jotted down every single idea, no matter how dumb it seemed. I made notes, lots of notes.
- Pink hilt?
- Covered in jewels?
- Maybe a talking sword? (Okay, that one was a bit out there).
- It needs to look cool, but not super scary.
Rough Sketches
Then came the sketching phase. My drawing skills are, uh, “rustic,” to put it nicely. Lots of stick figures and lopsided blades. I tried to get some basic shapes down, experimenting with different hilt designs and blade lengths. I just put lots of scribbles down, to figure out what worked.

Getting More Detailed
After a while, I picked a couple of the least-terrible sketches and started refining them. I tried to imagine what kind of princess would actually use this sword. Is she a warrior? A diplomat? Maybe both? I’m no artist but at least it’s starting to look like something!
Iterating (Again and Again)
Next, I began the iteration process. I drew, and drew, and drew some more. I changed the hilt a dozen times, messed with the blade curve, added some (admittedly questionable) floral patterns. I even added some color and some small details. My desk was covered in crumpled-up paper.
The Final Result
Finally, I landed on a design I didn’t completely hate. It’s not perfect, not by a long shot, but it’s something. It’s got a slightly curved blade, a hilt that’s more practical than pretty, and a few subtle details that hint at royalty without being over-the-top. I think it has the look I imagined.
So, yeah, that’s my “princess swords” journey so far. It’s been messy, frustrating, and surprisingly fun. It show me the power of drawing out my ideas and putting them on paper.
