Okay, so I tried this “random tarot” thing today, and let me tell you, it was a trip. I’ve always been a bit curious about tarot but never really took the plunge. I mean, can some cards really tell you about your life? Sounds a bit out there, right? But I figured, why not? It’s all in good fun, and who knows, maybe I’d learn something new.
I started by just reading up on it a little. What is this whole tarot thing about anyway? Apparently, it’s not about predicting the future like some crystal ball. It’s more about understanding what’s going on with you right now. Like, what’s your vibe? What are you feeling? So, I got myself a deck online. Nothing fancy, just a basic one to start with.
Then I found this website that explained how to do a simple reading. It said to shuffle the cards while thinking about a question or just your general life situation. So, I did that, feeling a bit silly, to be honest. I mean, I’m sitting there, shuffling these cards, trying to “connect” with them. It felt a bit like playing pretend, but I went with it.

My First Reading
I picked a simple three-card spread – past, present, future. I laid out the cards and started looking up their meanings. I went to a few different sites, to get a sense of what each card was about. There were some common themes but also some differences in how each site interpreted them. It was a bit like trying to understand a weird, abstract poem. But I tried to keep an open mind. I tried to focus on the cards and just get a feel for them.
Aha Moment?
Here’s the thing, some of what I read kind of resonated with me. Like, one card talked about change and new beginnings, and I’ve been thinking about switching jobs lately. It wasn’t like a direct prediction or anything, but it felt relevant to what’s been on my mind. Another card mentioned balance and harmony, which, honestly, I could use more of in my life. I’m always rushing around, trying to do a million things at once.
- Past: The card I got was about reflection and learning from experience. I guess that made sense. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about my past choices lately.
- Present: This one talked about creativity and passion. I’ve been trying to get back into painting, so that felt pretty spot on.
- Future: This was the tricky one. It was a card about challenges but also opportunities. That’s pretty vague, but I guess life is always full of ups and downs, right?
Keeping a Tarot Journal
Some folks online suggested keeping a tarot journal, so I started one. I wrote down the cards I drew, what I thought they meant, and how I felt about the reading. It was kind of like a weird self-reflection exercise. I mean, I’m not sure if the cards have any real power, but writing everything down helped me think about my life in a different way.
Still Skeptical, But…
Look, I’m still not convinced that tarot is some magical thing. But I do think it can be a useful tool for self-reflection. It’s like holding up a mirror to yourself and seeing things from a different angle. I’ve kept doing readings, just a few times a week, and I always write about them in my journal. It’s become a weird little ritual. I don’t think I’ll ever be 100% accurate with it, but hey, who is? It’s more about the process and what you learn along the way. And who knows, maybe 80-90% accuracy is good enough. At the very least, it’s a fun and interesting way to spend some time and maybe learn something about yourself in the process.
