First off, I started brainstorming what kind of signs I wanted. I browsed around online, just to see what other folks were doing. Found some pretty basic “beware of dog” signs and some funny ones, too. That got my creative juices flowing. I wanted something unique, something that would really stand out in my home.
Decided to go with wood signs because, well, they just look classy. I hit up my local craft store and picked up a few wooden plaques. They were pretty cheap, like under ten bucks each. Grabbed some paint, stencils, and brushes, too. I was ready to get crafting!
Now, for the fun part – the sayings. I wanted a mix of funny and sweet. Here’s what I came up with:
- “Welcome – We Hope You Like Dogs” – This one’s going right by the front door.
- “A Spoiled Dog Lives Here” – Because, let’s be honest, my pup is totally spoiled!
- “Dogs Welcome, People Tolerated” – A little cheeky, but it’s all in good fun.
I spent the whole afternoon painting and stenciling. It was a bit messy, but hey, that’s part of the fun. I let them dry overnight, just to make sure the paint was good and set.
The final touch
I added some hooks to the back so I could hang them up. Placed them around the house – one in the entryway, one in the living room, and one in my office. They really add a personal touch, and everyone who’s seen them gets a good chuckle.
Honestly, this was such a simple project, but it brought me so much joy. Plus, it’s a great way to show off my love for dogs. If you’re a dog lover like me, I definitely recommend giving this a try. It’s easy, it’s fun, and you end up with some awesome decor for your home.
