Okay, so today I decided to mess around with the “7 of Swords” card from my tarot deck. I’ve been trying to get a better handle on interpreting cards, and this one always seemed a bit tricky, you know? It’s got that image of a sneaky-looking guy tiptoeing away with a bunch of swords.
My Little Experiment
First, I just sat down and looked at the card for a good while. I mean, really looked at it. I noticed the colors – lots of yellows and grays, which felt kind of… unsettling? Then I focused on the guy’s expression. He’s not exactly evil-looking, but definitely sly, like he’s getting away with something.
Next, I grabbed my journal and started jotting down some keywords that came to mind. Stuff like:

- Deception
- Strategy
- Sneakiness
- Taking a risk
- Doing things your own way
Then, I tried to connect the card to my own life. I asked myself, “Where am I being a bit sneaky right now? Where am I trying to take a shortcut, or maybe avoid a direct confrontation?” It’s kind of uncomfortable to admit, but I realized I’ve been putting off a difficult conversation with a friend. I’ve been kind of… strategically avoiding it, hoping it’ll just resolve itself. Classic 7 of Swords energy, huh?
After that, I did a little three-card spread to see if I could get more context. I pulled the cards, and I got some interesting results, I thought this way I can get deeper inside.
Finally, I spent some time just reflecting on the whole thing. I think the 7 of Swords isn’t necessarily a “bad” card. It’s more about being aware of how you’re approaching situations. Are you being clever and resourceful, or are you being dishonest and manipulative? It’s a fine line, and it’s something I need to keep in mind, not to act selfishly.
So, that was my little deep dive into the 7 of Swords today. It was definitely eye-opening, and I feel like I understand the card a little better now. It gave me a feeling that practice is so important for Tarot, and that I will learn better over time.
