5 of Wands as Intentions: Practical Steps for Daily Life

5 of Wands as Intentions: Practical Steps for Daily Life

Okay, so I’ve been trying to get more intentional with my tarot readings lately. Not just, like, “What’s gonna happen today?” but more “How can I make this happen?” You know? So, I’ve been experimenting with using specific cards as, like, focal points for my intentions. And today, I went with the 5 of Wands.

My 5 of Wands Experiment

First, I spent some time just, like, looking at the card. It’s all chaos, right? A bunch of dudes all waving wands around, nobody really working together. It kinda screams “conflict,” “competition,” “disarray.” My first thought was, “Uh, how am I gonna make that an intention?” But, after a bit of thought, I realized the opposite of all that messy stuff is where the gold is.

I grabbed my journal and started scribbling. Here’s what I wanted to avoid (inspired by the card’s usual meaning):

  • Unnecessary drama: I didn’t want to get sucked into petty arguments or office politics.
  • Scattered energy: I needed to focus, not chase every shiny new idea that popped into my head.
  • Ego clashes: I wanted to collaborate, not compete, with my team.

Then, came the good stuff. I flipped those negatives around to create the actual intentions. I wrote:

  • “I intend to navigate any disagreements with grace and find common ground.”
  • “I intend to prioritize my tasks and maintain laser focus on my top goals.”
  • “I intend to support my colleagues and foster a spirit of teamwork.”

I shuffled the deck, pulled the 5 of Wands, and placed it on my desk where I could see it all day. It was a constant, visual reminder of what I was aiming for (and what I was dodging!).

How It Worked!

Honestly, it was interesting. There were a couple of moments during the day where things could have gotten heated. A meeting that went a little sideways, some conflicting feedback on a project… you know, typical work stuff.

But I kept glancing at that card. I remembered, “Grace, common ground, focus, teamwork.” I took some deep breaths (seriously!), tried to really listen to what other people were saying, and consciously chose to respond instead of react. I don’t mean to do a “perfect”, But did it make a difference? Heck yeah.

By the end of the day, I felt… good. Not because everything went perfectly (it never does!), but because I felt like I’d handled things with more intention and, I guess, more maturity. I didn’t get dragged down into the chaos. I stayed (mostly!) focused on my priorities.

I am absolutely going to keep experimenting with this. It’s a cool way to use the cards for personal growth, not just fortune-telling. Next time, maybe I’ll try something a little less… combative… than the 5 of Wands! Maybe the Two of Cups for some relationship harmony?
